Testimonials

It's a wonderful piece of history with a interesting architecture. There seems to be a bit of mystery as to why the original owner George Metz had it constructed. Definitely worth a tour.

Jared Frost

It's a really neat place to go! It caught my eye many times crossing the river, it was such a delight to be able to find Villa Katherine is open to the public!Even more fantastic the history is available too! Every place has a story but rarely can one get to read it. Anyone who is the study of, or is, in architecture, design, or trade job of any kind, please do check it out and get inspired. There is a timeless quality to the details of this place. From the sun and moons, to the tiles and lanterns.

Beautiful place with a very interesting history. Not too pricey for admission. There is also a Quincy visitor center there, so a great place to start your trip.

About Us

Friends of the Castle, Inc. was established in 1978 as a nonprofit organization with the specific mission of saving the Villa Kathrine from demolition; restoring it to its original beauty; and preserving, maintaining, and operating it as a community asset.

To effectively accomplish that mission, a Four Phase Plan was developed and completed.

Phase I was achieved in 1987 by stabilizing and restoring the exterior, and restoring the parlor for use.

Phase II was achieved in 1998 with restoration of the interior, including installation of a security and fire system.

Phase III was achieved in 2010 by acquiring appropriate furnishings and enhancements.

Phase IV was achieved in 2011 by establishing an Endowment Fund with the Community Foundation, to guarantee continued future earnings to help ensure this unique building will remain in restored condition for use and enjoyment by the people of Quincy and her visitors.
